Andrew R. Schaefer, EA, NTPI Fellow
Immediate Past President (2015-2016) (2016-2017)
Orlando Chapter FSEA

Andrew established his Orlando tax problem resolution firm, Insight Tax Services, in January, 2012. Our office has been located “at the fountain” in the historic Thornton Park Neighborhood in Downtown Orlando since first opening our doors in January of 2012. Andrew and his tight-knit support staff solve people’s IRS and state tax problems, prepare tax returns, and help entrepreneurs form tax-efficient companies. Andrew Schaefer is an Enrolled Agent¹ licensed by the U. S. Treasury² to represent individuals and businesses before the IRS in all civil matters. Unlike CPAs and lawyers, EAs must be 100% tax-focused. They pass a rigorous three-part IRS exam, a federal background check, and must maintain continuing education standards by completing (or instructing classes) in topics specific to tax.

Andrew is an alum of Florida State University, holding a BS degree in Economics & International Affairs. Prior to pursuing a career in tax problem resolution, he owned several businesses that included international import/export, online retail, marketing, and others.

In late 2009, Andrew began working with a retired IRS Special Agent to learn tax preparation and IRS representation with the goal of helping fellow small business owners and people from all walks of life relieve the stress of taxes. The valuable mentoring gained from an IRS insider’s perspective was an exciting accelerated course of preparing hundreds of tax returns and learning to fix countless sorts of tax problems.

Andrew Schaefer’s tax office specializes in:

  • Multi-Year Tax Prep (we use IRS transcripts and reconstructed records.)
  • Minimizing– and oftentimes eliminating– prior-year tax bills.
  • Small Business Tax Planning & Entity Formation
  • Personal and Business Tax Return Preparation
  • IRS Audit Defense

Andrew served as the inaugural Vice President and CE Chair of the Florida Society of Enrolled Agents’ Orlando Chapter, under the leadership of Ms. Barbara Kuecken, EA. Subsequently, he held a two-term presidency in the Chapter and stays active in the Central Florida EA community by presenting numerous times to the group as a CE presenter, amateur webmaster, and immediate past president. Andrew has has been quoted in The Washington Post, presented on IRS collections practices before the Orange County Bar Association Tax Law Committee, has presented twice at PechaKucha Orlando, been interviewed on Orlando CBS affiliate WKMG, and has taught free tax-101 classes to self-employed persons at meetings in Orlando.

When not at the office, Andrew can be found working on one of his rental homes, flying a single engine aircraft with his brother, father (both fellow pilots and current/former USAF officers) or friend, traveling to Tallahassee to watch FSU football, or enjoying wings & beer at Thornton Park’s Graffiti Junktion a two minute walk from his office.
